How A Green Screen
Can Save A Photographer
Loads Of Cash!
Take note,
When a photographer is just starting out or business is quiet, they must budget and limited resources wisely.
The problem is if you’re business planning and marketing is not up to scratch you could go out of business due to poor management faster than you got started.
Even as an established photography business must have simple systems in place to build upon to solve challenges.
For Example:
Should you as a photographer specialize in portraits (whether this be for children, pets, adults, or combinations) you will have to deal with on-location shots, the purchasing of printed backdrops, and trying to please customers desires for photos that may be challenging to create. These challenges have the potential to cause unnecessary pressure along with adding expense the photographer may not be able to afford.
But there is a solution…
Unfortunately the typical solution is to buy different backgrounds. These backgrounds come in a variety of indoor and outdoor props, or even coloured patterns for use with professional portraits.
The problem here is each backdrop can cost quite a lot of money!
Plus most backdrops are rarely used which means you’re wasting money. This can be a total waste of a photographer's resources, time and money.
As you may know, having a few coloured muslins, one or two backdrops along with an in-demand theme can prove to be profitable. BUT here’s the big problem… how can a photographer possibly know (without any doubt) that the backdrops they paid for will remain popular for any length of time?
Also when the need arises to take pictures on a location, there are countless variables that are out of the photographer's control.
With most outdoor shots for example...
The photographer is totally at the mercy of the weather!
Plus if you’re shooting indoors and it’s a public place the photographer is faced with the possibility of people ruining the photos. The typical solution would typically be to buy professionally printed backdrops…
Just before I give you the ultimate solution to these dilemmas I want you to understand this point because it is important. There is one other BIG problem when using printed backdrops. The problem is where a customer desires a certain location that the backdrop companies don’t have because of it not being popular.
Know that there are companies who will print out a backdrop for you, but you will own another expensive back drop that is rarely used. Alternatively a photographer can shoot on location, but the problem of the shots coming out good every time can be a real challenge…
Well it has been up until now!
Here’s the solution that will overcome all of these problems…
Use a Green Screen! Ok… let’s see how this simple process works: The first step is for you as the photographer to sit with your customer and find out exactly what they are thinking. As the photographer you now need to schedule a photo shoot, book it in and get a deposit.
You would now gather the necessary backgrounds, either by taking the shots themselves or by purchasing them via the internet. When the client returns, you shoot the portrait of your customer in front of the green screen.
This next part is important…
Using chroma key software; you remove the green screen and replaces it with the stunning background(s) your customer originally requested.
And finally, once your customer is happy with what they see, you produce the prints and you’re done. The best part is that this process has been done quickly and easily plus you didn’t waste any money!
